The local Communities In Schools will hold a flapjack fundraiser Aug. 7 at Applebee’s. All proceeds raised will support programs that help students stay in school and provide families with needed resources.

The fundraiser starts at 7 a.m. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased by calling Melanie Meeks at 442-9991. Breakfast includes a short stack of pancakes, sausage, milk, juice and coffee.

Applebee’s works with local nonprofit organizations to raise money for their cause. The breakfasts are managed by the nonprofit group with the assistance of Applebee’s employee volunteers. Breakfasts can be held on any Saturday or Sunday morning, and cost the organization around $2 a meal.
