Alright, a recap of the weekend's happenings. There was plenty going on across the golfing world. A new star is rising on the LPGA Tour, and she looks set to take over Lorena Ochoa's spot atop the women's golf world. A young star on the PGA Tour won, and somebody very important missed the cut this weekend.

PGA TOUR

Tiger Woods missed the cut at the Quail Hollow Championship on Friday. He didn't play particularly well (79). He now must get ready for The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass, where he hasn't had a whole lot of success lately.

On a positive note, Rory McIlroy won the event. He shot a course-record 62 on the final day to win by four strokes against Phil Mickelson. McIlroy only is 20 years old, and he looks poised to climb higher in the world rankings. I've said it a few times, I think he's the next big thing in golf. We're looking at a kid who might win 10 or more majors in his career.

JAPAN

Now why on earth would I talk about Japan in a golf blog? Ryo Ishikawa, the 18-year-old phenom from Japan, shot a 12-under par 58!!!! That would be a professional golf record. Three players have shot a 59, but nobody has ever shot a 58. The course wasn't too long – just a mere 6,500 plus yards. I won't take anything away from the kid, he's really good. If he handles the pressure of being the savior of Japanese golf, he'll be battling McIlroy for a few years on Tour.

LPGA TOUR

The end of an era, albeit a short era, occured Sunday on the LPGA Tour. Lorena Ochoa finished her professional career and has officially retired. Fittingly enough, Ai Miyazato won the event (Ochoa finished in the top 5). Miyazato has dominated the Tour so far this season, and she might be the next No. 1 world women's golfer. I know there are bigger names out there right now, but Miyazato is producing NOW.

Look out for reaction from me about my fantasy golf team Monday.

Ochoa

She was a talent in a sport being dominated by Asian Women. Look at the comparison between how many Asians are on the LPGA compared to the PGA.

Rory

He truly is an incredible talent. Worth keeping an eye on for the next twenty years...

I Agree!

Though I'm not an avid Golf fan, I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed watching Rory McIlroy play this weekend.  I am in full agreement with you Trevor...he is one to watch!
