Paul Goydos shot a 59 in the opening round of the John Deere Classic on Thursday.

Goydos, who is one of the funnier guys on the PGA Tour, shot a 31 on the front nine and then made 8 birdies on the back nine for a 28. Par on the course is 71, which has some people claiming it isn't a legitimate 59.

Any 59 is a good 59. I have to stop after about 14 holes to have that score. Congratulations Goydos, you are one of only four players on the PGA Tour to shoot a 59 in a competitive round.

Steve Stricker is in second place after shooting an opening round 60.
