Woods might have hit rock bottom

About the time I thought nothing could get worse for Tiger Woods, the bottom falls out from under him.

Woods' swing coach Hank Haney announced he was stepping down from his position Monday night. The report came amidst numerous reports that Woods was going to fire his coach of six years.

Woods released a statement Tuesday that said he understood Haney's decision, and that he would remain friends with arguably the best golf coach in the world.

There have been no reports as to who might be Woods next coach.

Woods has had arguably the worst six months of his professional career. In November, reports leaked of infidelity with numerous women. Then came his announcement that he would not play competitive golf for quite some time.

He then returned and finished fourth at the Masters. Mix in a missed cut at Quail Hollow and his WD at The Players Championship due to a neck injury, and I'm starting to wonder if he'll ever be back to the Woods I grew up watching. Time will tell, but things are not looking up for the world's No. 1 golfer.

What do you think about the recent months for Woods? Let me know.

Tiger's Game

I think this is a good example of why we shouldn't idolize sports figures as much as we do, especially to our children. Everyone on this planet is human and everyone makes mistakes. Just because a guy is the world's greatest golfer, doesn't make him immune to stupid decisions; and having tons of money doesn't make a man smart. Hopefully, Woods will be able to salvage his life and at the very least, be a better role model for his own children. Golf......well, that remains to be seen. I wish him the best in getting his life back together.

Re: Tiger's Game

Well said, On the Rise. There are a lot of people rooting against him who, I think, don't realize his importance to the game.

Stick a fork in tiger......

I honestly think he was "roided up". I think he has serious emotional issues and will never return to golf. It's a shame for him and for golf.

Re: Fork

He'll return to golf. He might not return to the top form he once was in, but he'll be back. As far as "roided up," I think that's a stretch.

Stretch or not...

roids would explain some of his injuries and a well know roid doctor was on his payroll, no? He's looking a lot less buff these days and he seems to have a lot of concentration issues. Golf is intensly cerebral and I think Tiger has too many thoughts going through his head these days. I hope he works out his problems, it's a shame he's thrown away his career.

Re: Stretch

While I agree that the injuries could be from something like steroids, I just don't see it. There's been too much talk around the PGA Tour about how much he works out. As far as having too many thoughts in his head, well that's an understatement. The guy has been through more in the past six months than a lot of people go through in a life. Self inflicted, yes, but does he deserve the paparazzi blanketing him the way they have, no. I'm with you on this, though. I hope he comes back and plays as well as he used to, the game needs him.
