Zach Johnson and the great Matt Hill

Former Masters champion Zach Johnson increased his status on Tour with the addition of a plaid jacket to his closet.

Johnson finished strong at the Crowne Plaza Invitational with a 6-under 64 in the final round. His tournament total 21-under 259 set a new tournament record. Conditions were optimal all week for scoring. The winds were down and the greens rolled true the entire way through the tournament. Congrats to Johnson on another great win.

N.C. STATE GOLFER TURNS PRO

The defending NCAA champion Matt Hill is turning professional. After he failed to qualify for the NCAA National Championship tournament, he officially will begin his professional career this week at the Memorial. He has made one cut during his amateur career, and I expect him to be a contendor in a few tournaments in the next five years.

THE MEMORIAL

Speaking of the Memorial tournament, we get to see Tiger Woods play again! I'm wondering how he'll play at a course he has dominated for most of his career. Tell me what you think he'll do. E-mail me at tseibert@rmtelegram.com or hit me up on Twitter (FromTeetoGreen). Best guess wins a prize!
